Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Shoulder Replacement Surgery is a procedure in which a damaged or arthritic shoulder joint is replaced with an artificial implant to relieve pain and restore mobility.
There are two main types: total shoulder replacement (where both the ball and socket of the shoulder joint are replaced) and reverse shoulder replacement (used when the rotator cuff is damaged and cannot be repaired). This surgery is often recommended for patients with severe shoulder arthritis, fractures, or rotator cuff tears that don’t respond to non-surgical treatments. It helps improve joint function and reduces pain, allowing for better quality of life.

We offer the following shoulder replacement surgeries:
- Total Shoulder Replacement: This procedure involves replacing the damaged or arthritic parts of the shoulder joint with artificial components, including a metal ball attached to a stem that is inserted into the upper arm bone (humerus) and a plastic socket that is implanted into the shoulder blade (scapula). Total shoulder replacement can provide pain relief and improve shoulder function for patients with arthritis or other degenerative shoulder conditions.
- Reverse Shoulder Replacement: In this procedure, the positions of the metal ball and plastic socket are reversed, with the metal ball being attached to the shoulder blade and the plastic socket being attached to the upper arm bone. Reverse shoulder replacement is typically recommended for patients with severe arthritis combined with a rotator cuff tear or other complex shoulder issues.
